Life is never dull with Shirley Round Table.
Over the last year, we’ve taken part in a huge variety of activities but always with an eye to enjoying life to the full. We're always open to new members - so, read more and get in touch.
What we do
We meet twice a month and, over the last year, have managed to cram in an amazing variety of activities including a brewery visit, indoor karting, scalextric on a huge 6 lane track, shooting and climbing as well as grabbing the odd curry along the way. In short, it’s an excuse to escape the pressures of work and go out and do things that you’d never usually do.
But, we’re not just about having fun and have a feeling of social responsibility. We’re the people who bring Santa round on those cold December evenings to generate so many smiles and mark the official start of Christmas for so many people and have been putting together Solihull Carnival since 1955. We're also the group behind the succesful Shirley beer festival - definately something to raise a glass to. Every year, thousands of pounds is given out to help those in need in the Shirley, Solihull area. We're not about can rattling but doing and having fun!
We're not even just a group of lads going out in Shirley – we regularly hold joint events with our sister organisation, Ladies Circle, and even get all dressed up once a year for a formal dinner. To give us a break from hectic events, the first friday of each month see us down the pub for a few beers to set us up for the month ahead. We also team up with Solihull Round Table and other local tables for various events during the year.
Being close to the M42, we're used to travelling but we take this to new heights visiting other tables around the world. Three years ago some of our number went to France, two years was India and last year: Sweeden. This year, everyone is coming to ours so we've got a weekend of entertaining to organise. You'll get a chance to see the world on the cheap staying with other tablers and their families. So, whether you're new to Shirley or you've lived here all your life. Why would you not want to be part of it?
We're open to all males aged 18-45 (you get kicked out at 45 to ensure the group stays youngish... So, just come along without obligation to a couple of events to see whether we're right for you. Contact us to find out more.
